Hello from Barbara's Entourage!

"Don't sweat the small things!" How often have you heard that spoken? Small things hurt, sometimes worse than bigger things. A lie told by your best friend shocks you into reality that not everyone lives by the same rules that you do. You thought you knew this person as good as you knew yourself.

Life holds many mysteries. One of them is the fact that all people are different. Regardless to how much we think we know someone, we can never get inside that person's mind, or feel things they way they do. From minute to minute, day to day, people change before our eyes. And, when that 'little thing' happens, it catches us by surprise. That is how the enemy works!

Satan will use any trick to steal lives. He tricks people into thinking that it's okay to lie, cheat, or steal. He talked Eve, who, up until that day was innocent, into going against what God had said. He's conniving, and he watches and waits, until he knows how, when, and where you are most vulnerable, then he strikes! If he could fool Eve, don't you know he can fool us, unless we are staying steadfast in our confession - holding on to every morsel of food that God's Word provides, daily? Eve didn't 'sweat the small things' (she took the apple and ate!!), and it got us all into a life of sin!

Ecclesiastes 8:3 Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.

This is a special edition of Moments For Mom by Elisabeth K. Corcoran. All Moms, read and enjoy! AND, Dads, you can read also!

What A Mother Is

Does this identify your role as Mother? Mothers work none stop, for the first eighteen years of life, to bring up a child correctly. Some may seem to be doing better jobs than others, but, nevertheless, they are Moms, whom mostly love their children!

If you don't have time to cook, take her out for a great time!! I am sure MOM will enjoy that as much as a home-cooked meal! No dishes to clean up afterwards!

Joy, Humor, and Faith on the net!

Life Before The Computer

An application was for employment
A program was a TV show
A cursor used profanity
A keyboard was a piano.

Compress was something you did to the garbage
Not something you did to a file
And if you unzipped anything in public
You'd be in jail for a while!

Log on was adding wood to the fire
Hard drive was a long trip on the road
A mouse pad was where a mouse lived
And a backup happened to your commode!

Cut - you did with a pocket knife
Paste you did with glue
A web was a spider's home
And a virus was the flu!

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper
And the memory in my head
I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash
But when it happens they wish they were dead!

Circulating in Email - author unknown.

Ointment For His Feet

Lord, I have no expensive, aromatic oil
With which to anoint Your beloved feet --
No ointment, rare and precious
With fragrance sweet.

But Oh! my God, with all-adoring praise
My one possession I gladly waste,
So that, anointing You in love,
Your delight I'll taste.

I pour out myself: my hopes, dreams,
Ambitions, plans and talent -- God-given,
But by me badly used,
By my will driven.

O my God! Please, accept this humble sacrifice,
My stumbling steps and clumsy touch --
That I may rise and serve you always,
Forgiven by Your mercy, and loving much.

The Spiritual Life

What a sweet life is that! The maintaining, strengthening it, has a softening influence; and it is a labor that never wearies, never deceives, but gives each day fresh cause for joy.

In the language of devotion, it is called the 'interior life'; and it is our purpose to point out minutely its nature, excellence, means, and hindrances.

Let no one think the interior life is incompatible with the life domestic and social, which is often so engrossing; just as the action of the heart maintained by the constant flow of blood in no way affects the outward movements, so is it with the life of the soul, which consists chiefly in the action of God's Holy Spirit within, that never hinders our social duties, but on the contrary is a help towards fulfilling them more calmly, more perfectly.

By Charlotte M. Yonge - 1880
