Hello from Barbara's Entourage

No matter how we try, we just can't make it by ourselves. Life gets demanding, and we run out of steam. The workload gets heavy, and we run out of patience. The kids get on our nerves, and we are ready to jump off the nearest bridge.

Do you feel this way at times? Well, there is hope for you. Each of us has gone through some phase in our lives that we now wish we could have avoided. But it's the trials and tribulations that make us stronger, if we have God in our lives. Without Him, we are lost, but with Him, we are like mighty giants! Nothing can harm us, although the enemy will try. Nothing can touch us, although you'll find yourself tempted on every corner!

If you're going through a something similar in your life today, why not reach out and touch God, and let Him get you on the path to recovery?

Psalms 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

In spiritual terms... drought can be frustrating, even frightening. We've all experienced it-- times when we pray, but our supplications seem to bounce off the ceiling. Times when the Scriptures remain silent, answers refuse to come, and the presence of God seems very far away. We long for the rain, the refreshing of God's spirit, the hope that's renewed with a sense of the Lord's nearness. We force ourselves to keep on praying. We fast and beg and storm the gates of heaven for some sign that the Lord has not abandoned us. But what we really need to do is wait. Wait and trust.

Streams In The Desert

"In the still air the music lies unheard;
In the rough marble beauty hides unseen;
To make the music and the beauty needs
The master's touch, the sculptor's chisel keen.

"Great Master, touch us with Thy skillful hands;
Let not the music that is in us die!
Great Sculptor, hew and polish us; nor let,
Hidden and lost, thy form within us lie!"

Joy, Humor, and Faith on the net!

A little boy was afraid of the dark. One night his mother told him to go to the back porch and bring her the broom.

The little boy turned to his mother and said, "Mama, I Don't want to go out there. It's dark". The Mother smiled reassuringly at her son. "You don't have to be afraid of the dark," she explained. "Jesus is out there. He'll look after you and protect you."

The little boy looked at his mother real hard and asked, "Are you sure he's out there?" "Yes, I'm sure. He is everywhere, and He is always ready to help you when you need Him," she said.

The little boy thought about that for a minute and went to the back door and cracked it a little. Peering out into the darkness, he called, "Jesus? If you're out there, would you please hand me the broom?"

One Sunday afternoon, a cranky grandfather was visiting his family. As he lay down to take a nap, his grandson decided to have a little fun by putting Limburger cheese on Grandfather's mustache. Soon, Grandpa awoke with a snort and charged out of the bedroom saying, "This room stinks." Through the house he went, finding every room smelling the same. Desperately he made his way outside only to find that "the whole world stinks!"

So it is when we fill our minds with negativism. Everything we experience and everybody we encounter will carry the scent we hold in our mind.

A word or two from...

Christianity Today
September 3, 2001

"In maintaining integrity, Salvationists got the Boy Scout treatment."

The salvation army got mugged this summer. Or you could say that the Army was "Scouted." Like the Boy Scouts of America before it, the Army's public identity and agenda were highjacked by the forces of sexual liberation, and the ministry was subjected to public ridicule of researchers and bioethicists and open hostility for its supposedly anti-gay policies.

Art thou resolved to avoid all occasions of sin? To renounce that which tempts thee; never again to open the book that excites thine imagination? Not to bestow thine affection on one who is not devout, and whose presence steals the peace from thy soul?

Wilt thou go now and be loving and forbearing towards one who has vexed thee?...

Good, My child! . . . Go, then, return to thy daily toil; be silent, humble, resigned, charitable; then return to me with a heart yet more loving and devoted, and i shall have for thee fresh blessings.
