TOP OF THE MANTLE

As I look out my windows, my ground is 'gold' with the leaves that have fallen off the trees in my yard. Doesn't matter if you blow or rake them off, for tomorrow, they will be back. The woods are full of the most gorgeous colors this time of year, and it's a pleasure to ride the roads, looking at the beautiful sights.

God was so good when He made the foliage to change to such magnificent colors each Fall. He knew He would bring pleasure to His people. Isn't it awesome the things that God does for us, and sometimes we don't realize the magnitude for which He has stretched His goodness just for us. As I look out across the horizon and see the sunset, I know that GOD is real - for only HE could have performed such a beautiful task. Man may have been made 'in His image' ......... but we have yet to master those things that set our minds at awe!

SPECIAL FEATURE DEVOTIONAL

Who's Wearing The Mask?

<((< -- <((< -- <(< -- <((< -- <((< -- <((<

When all our hopes are gone,
'Tis well our hands must keep toiling on
For others' sake:
For strength to bear is found in duty done;
And he is best indeed who learns to make
The joy of others cure his own heartache."

The Prayer of Jabez

I'm sure most of the readers have heard or perhaps read or studied the book by Bruce Wilkinson. It probably has become a best seller by now, and it is a book readily available in my library of best read books!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

God does not give as we do, a mere handout to the beggar, but He gives His wealth by handfuls. This is the divine habit. He not only redeems His promises, but when He might meet them in silver He prefers to pay them in gold.

'THIS AND THAT' ...
Joy, Humor, and Faith on the net!

*Biblical Spokespersons*

What if biblical characters could be recruited as high-tech promoters? Consider the following tech advocates and their ad slogans:

Noah for Match.com: We can find a mate for anything. Why not you?

Moses for the Excedrin Headache Resource Center (Excedrin.com):
Take two tablets and call me in the morning.

The dove for UPS.com: Guaranteed delivery in 40 days and 40 nights.

Adam and Eve for Dell: No Apples for us. We've learned the hard way.

Solomon for Microsoft: Don't cut the baby in half.

Joseph for Nikon Coolpix:
Only Nikon can capture the 36-bit color of my megapixel dreamcoat.

Methuselah for AARP.org: Life begins at 960.

Pharaoh for Symantec: If only we'd had Norton AntiPlague 2002 in 2002 ... B.C.E.

Job for NASDAQ: 'Nuff said.

MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL

You say you will never forget where you were when you heard the news on September 11, 2001. Neither will I. I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room with a man who called his wife to say "Good-bye." I held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the peace to say, "Honey, I am not going to make it, but it is OK...I am ready to go."

I was with his wife when he called as she fed breakfast to their children. I held her up as she tried to understand his words and as she realized he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a woman cried out to Me for help. "I have been knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!" I said. "Of course I will show you the way home -- only believe on Me now."

I was at the base of the building with the Priest ministering to the injured and devastated souls. I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat, with every prayer. I was with the crew as they were overtaken.

I was in the very hearts of the believers there, comforting and assuring them that their faith has saved them.

I was in Texas, Kansas, London. I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news. Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name -- though not all know Me. Some met Me for the first time on the 86th floor. Some sought Me with their last breath. Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the smoke and flames; "Come to Me... this way... take my hand." Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me. But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You may not know why, but I do. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me? September 11, 2001 was not the end of the journey for you.

But someday your journey will end. And I will be there for you as well.

Seek Me now while I may be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are "ready to go."

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

God

SNIPPET FROM THE MANTLE
A word or two from...

Christianity.com
Rev. Dr. Paul Schnenck

At a meeting in the Al Qaeda terrorist camp in Khost, Afghanistan on February 23, 1998, the International Islamic Front for the Jihad against Jews and Cross-bearers(Christians), issued a fatwa, an edict “to kill Americans and their allies—civilians and military—in any country in which it is possible.”

"GOLD DUST" ON THE MANTLE

PRAYER

To pray is to remain, so long as our prayer lasts, in the Presence of God, with the certainty that we can never weary Him, no matter wht may be the subject of our prayer, or at those times when we are speechless, and as in the case of the good peasant quoted by the Cure d'Ars, we are content to place ourselves before God, with only he recollection of His Presence.

To pray is to act towards God as the child does to its mother, the poor man towards the rich, eager to do him good, the friend towards his friend, who longs to show him affection.

By Charlotte M. Yonge - 1880
