Hello from Barbara's Entourage
Well, since I sent out my last newsletter, I've turned one year older, not that I feel a day different than last week. Christmas is one week closer, but the weather feels like Spring of the year here in Alabama. Whether we have a cold Christmas or not will be up to God. We might have a wet one, though, according to the latest weather report.
We have ten days to get ready for Christmas day. I've just begun my Christmas shopping, as I am sure others are just as guilty. The Mall was full - parking lot jammed, and the stores packed to capacity! But, there is a rush to get over Christmas. One store already had their decorated Christmas trees on sale! I could hardly believe my eyes.
Hopefully, we don't just view Christmas as a time to buy gifts, although it's nice to be able to give to others. But, this should be a time of reflecting on the birth of our precious Lord - the reason that we celebrate. Our hearts should be filled with love and joy. Let us use the next ten days to draw closer to God, and give Him praise and thanks for sending His Son.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
Turn your eyes upon Jesus
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.

A minister waited in line to have his car filled with gas just before a long
holiday weekend.
The attendant worked quickly, but there were many cars ahead of him in front
of the service station.
Finally, the attendant motioned him toward a vacant pump.
"Preacher," said the young man, "I'm sorry about the delay. It seems as if
everyone waits until the last minute to get ready for a long trip."
The minister chuckled, "I know what you mean. It's the same in my business."

A child in Scripture class, when asked to draw a picture of the Holy
Family, produced a drawing in which Mary and the baby sat on a
recognizably donkeyish animal, led by Joseph. On the ground nearby
was a small black blob. "What is that?" asked the teacher. "The
flea," answered the young artist. "What flea, dear?" asked the
puzzled teacher. "The one the angel told Joseph to take".
Eventually, puzzled but not liking to challenge an imaginative child, the teacher
checked out her Bible. And there it was: Matthew 2:13 "... the angel
of the Lord saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother,
and flee ... into Egypt ..."

A word or two from ......
Maranatha Christian Journal
( CHARISMA) -- Zambian authorities are concerned that a recent string of conversions to Christianity among tribal chiefs could damage the country's traditional heritage and lead to a drop in tourism, said CWM Info., the news service of the Council for World Mission.

"GOLD DUST" ON THE MANTLE

Perhaps at the Last Day all that will remain worth recording of a life full of activity and zeal will be those little deeds that were done solely beneath the Eye of God.
My God, teach me to live with an abiding of Thy Presence, laboring for Thee, suffering for Thee, guided by Thee. . . . and Thee alone!
