TOP OF THE MANTLE

Hello from Barbara's Entourage
And The Floods Came!
I remember my husband talking about the monsoons of Vietnam. Friday, I was wondering if perhaps we were in the line of a monsoon, seriously! I have seen rain, lots of rain, but it seemed this rain didn't want to stop. It would rain so hard, you could hardly see in front of you, if you were on the road. At other times, it would just stop, and the sky would seem to want to clear up. Just at the point of clearing, the sky would get very dark again, and down would come a big downfall. It did this almost all day long here where I live.
I scouted the 'news' and found a link to floods in states north and east of us, where people were caught in the deadly rains. Seems there are more and more places subject to floods than ever before, possibly brought on by man - we build, and perhaps don't take into account the way floods work, and before we know it, we are in a deadly flood.
The Bible speaks of a particular flood - the one from which Noah saved his family. People were living their lives as they saw fit. They weren't listening to God, but doing their own thing. So, God told Noah to build an ark and get his family on it, along with the animals. Then, GOD was going to bring a flood on the earth, and, those that hadn't heeded God's voice would be caught up in this flood and lose their life.
Disobedience can bring a 'flood of problems' in our lives. Obedience can erase those 'flood problems'. Noah obeyed; therefore, he and his family were all saved. Others disobeyed; therefore, they were lost.
In this uncertain world today, we need to 'make our election sure', that we hold on to what we know is truth - the Word of God, which gives us assurance of our entrance into that Kingdom of God for eternity. Let us not be overrun by today's 'flood'.
2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
You can end this drab day with celebration if you live it by the
faith of the Son of God. We do not have to wait until we see how it
will turn out. It has already turned out! This is the marvelous truth
of the gospel that we start from victory and work from it. The
ultimate outcome merely climaxes what is guaranteed from the start.

"GOLD DUST" ON THE MANTLE
|
"Lean on Me, for I am Meek and Lowly of Heart"
This is a simple rule of life for me,requiring no more than I am able; but I feel it unites me to God, makes me more devout, more faithful to duty, more ready for death. Since I have made it my rule, it has been to me a source of consolation, enlightenment, and strength; and yet God alone knows how full of pain my life has been!
Dear friends, who, like myself, long to become holy, I command this sentence to you in all its simplicity; listen, for it comes from the loving Heart of Jesus, if fell from His gentle lips: --- "Learn of Me,for I am meek and lowly of heart."
By Charlotte M. Yonge - 1880 |
