IN GOD WE TRUST

2 Samuel 22:31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.

When all around us there is turmoil in the world, Americans are caught up in the fight over ‘In God We Trust’. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States was the first to be attacked for it's use of 'under God'. Those words were added to the Pledge during the 1950's. Also during the 1950's, the phrase 'so help me God' was added to the oaths of office for justices and judges. Our money, which bears the words 'In God We Trust' has also come under attack. 'E Pluribus Unum', standing for "Out of Many, One", was used on our currency until 1956. Congress then passed a law to replace it with the words, "In God We Trust". It was first used on paper money in 1957.
The secular world is not affected by the words "In God We Trust", other than to put a wedge between the world and Christians. The words have no effect in our lives, unless we are Christians. It looks good on our money, in our Pledge, or wherever it is present to those of us of the Christian faith, because we do place our trust in the Diety of God. This somehow gets under the skin of those that want to separate church and state.
If, somehow, these words are removed from their presence in the secular world, it will not effect those of us who do place our trust in the Lord. It can be removed from our sight, but never from our mind.
