It seems inevitable that we will soon go to war in Iraq. My friends and I have gotten many prayer requests for soldiers either embarking for shores unknown, or they are getting orders that they will
ship out soon. Every day, something new is happening - we see the soldiers on the television, kissing their spouses and children bye for perhaps a long time. It's a sad time for these families that may never see their loved one again.
The Christian soldier has someone he takes with him besides his fellow soldier - Jesus. In time of need, we are taught to turn to Jesus, to let Him lead, guide, and direct our path. The soldiers today need Jesus more than anything else.
He is able to watch their rear guard.
As the soldiers march off to war, they need the support of their family, their church, their community, and their nation. We all can join in prayer for their safety, that God will protect them wherever they may be. Give them encouragement through
cards and letters and packages. Having been the wife of a Vietnam vet, I know what it meant to him and others to get letters and packages from back home. My husband often was envied because he got so many letters every day and packages all the time. But, he had
a large family and a devoted wife. So, keep those cards, letters, and packages going to those soldiers that are off to protect our freedom.
